The Bible of Kansas Token Collecting...

If you are thinking about getting into Kansas tokens or are already into them you are not fully informed until you have the best book on Kansas tokens.

"Kansas Trade Tokens" by Kent Johnson & Larry Oller

Kent & Larry have over 80 years of collecting experience.  WOW!!  The book is a great catalog of all known Kansas tokens.  The book has token descriptions and an approximate rarity.  It was published in 2005 and is the only book since the 1990 work of Bill Waken.  My knowledge of tokens has grown immensely since I purchased the book.

Here is the cover of the book.

Here is what a typical page looks like.  This one is for Parsons in Labette county.

This is a closup view of an individual token listing.

Oh and the great thing is the 2 authors of this book are also moderators of the forum(Kent - bullfoot & Larry - KStoken).  If you are interested in a book, just give them a shout out on the forum.  They are both great guys and really know their tokens, you could say they wrote the book on it.

Glad to know the Hargett Collection made it into print.  I had wondered for several years, but only ran into an eBay item today.(4/9/2006)  I would be glad to learn more about the catalogue and its pricing.  Colbyite

Welcome Colbyite!!!   It's great to have you on the board.  I look forward to your posts.  Feel free to invite anyone you know who may be interested in tokens to the board.  One of the guys will be with you shortly about the book.

The catalog is $65. postpaid.  We hope to eventually break even on the printing at that price, but after a year we're still a ways away....

Orders to Kent Johnson, 2113 Northwood Lane, Salina, KS 67401 or bullfoot@cox.net

Thanks for the welcome feeling, Andrew; I appreciate it. Most of the token collectors I am currently in touch with are more likely to join a Colorado token board, but I will mention this board to them and give them a link.

Thanks for the information, bullfoot.  Since I am mostly winding down my collecting these days, I will try to check out a copy from the ANA library, first, before deciding to buy.  If they don't have the book, I'll tell them about how to get one.

If you think there is demand for a Colorado Token board I would be happy to try to start one.  IT would be fairly easy to do.

I would want to ask around before I would hazard to claim a need for such a board.  A group of Denver area token collectors used to meet monthly, but I don't know if that is still true.  I will ask two or three of them what is happening in that area.
